Organized in 1936 , Atmore First Assembly of God has been a cornerstone of spiritual life in the Atmore area for more than 80 years. They have served as a safe harbor for hurting and lost souls. The church building was originally located on 2nd Ave., however a growing congregation requires room to grow. In 1959 the church adopted its second location on Craig St. The congregation continued to grow steadily, reflecting dedication to serving members and the community as well as demonstrating the relevance of our message. 1989 brought about big changes when Cliff and Flora Eddins donated the land on South Main Street where Atmore First Assembly is currently located. The first phase of construction was soon completed and the new era was ushered in. The South Sanctuary that currently is home to "Kingdom Kids" was the first building to be constructed. The South Sanctuary served as the church's main hub of activity, providing space for all services until 2001 when the construction of the North Wing was completed.
Through times of prosperity and adversity, Atmore First Assembly of God remained steadfast in our mission to spread the teachings of Christianity and serve as a beacon of hope for those in need.
More recently, the church underwent a significant renovation project. This initiative not only provided much-needed space for the growing congregation but also symbolized the church's commitment to adapt and evolve with the changing needs of our members and the community at large. The renovation allowed for expansion of youth and community programs including PWR HS.
Throughout our history, Atmore First Assembly of God has been actively involved in various outreach initiatives, including local charity drives, community service projects, and missions work. These efforts have not only enriched the lives of those served but have also strengthened the bonds of fellowship among church members and reinforced the church's standing as a pillar of compassion and goodwill.
Today, Atmore First Assembly of God continues to thrive as a vibrant hub of spiritual activity, welcoming individuals from all walks of life to come together in worship, fellowship, and service. As we look to the future, we remain committed to upholding our core values of faith, love, and unity, while continually seeking new ways to make a positive impact on the lives we touch.
